CAPE 4: FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

As a future administrator and education leader, I will need to collaborate with families and other stakeholders to address the diverse student and community interests and mobilize community resources. While working on CAPE 4, the experiences I was a part of helped to give me a rich experience of growth. With my site principal, I helped prepare for and co-present at the Annual Title 1 meeting for the school. I worked with the school's leadership team on analyzing Brightbytes Survey results and helped to make suggestions and recommendations for next year in problem areas.  I was also able to work with the leadership team on how to reach out to prospective TK and K families.

As a part of the CCSPP Steering Committee (California Community Schools Partnership Program) with administration and assist with the rollout at school. I was a part of the grand opening of the community center as a member, where we had an information table to inform the community schools partnership had to offer. As a part of the CCSPP Steering Committee, I also worked with the team to reach the school community for the needed 70% of survey returns for the program.

I worked with the grade level team to reach out to families in various ways (social media, etc.) about upcoming PBL and environmental science projects, trips, forthcoming PBL, science scope and sequence, and kindergarten enrollment. Additionally, I worked with my grade-level team to create a service project for our classrooms, how to implement, display, and gain community involvement. I also worked with the school’s action team on the 100th-year celebration and parent/community engagement.
