CAPE 3: MANAGEMENT AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

As education leaders, we are called to manage our organization, making sure it is a safe and productive learning and working environment, and this is a challenging task. There are many pieces involved in this CAPE. While working in CAPE 3 to create and manage the school’s learning environment, I worked with a team to evaluate data and decide on a strategy to assist with the identified problem of practice, planned needed training to work to assist teachers in addressing the identified problem of practice, and evaluated assessment data to determine next steps and best plan for students and the learning environment. I worked with staff during meetings to focus on the positives and celebrate each other. I worked with the primary grade-level team to evaluate data and decide on a strategy to address grade-level behavior issues.

Before acting as administrator for SSOAR Saturday School, I did a school walk-through and prepared for the predicted inclement weather. Working with the leadership team and committee, we organized and made decisions on facility choices for the school's new environment to back new focus and school branding. We planned for classroom observations, walk-throughs, and monthly instructional focuses. Before this school year began, I made schedules for the school site of Morning duty, music, PE, and STEAM Lab that allowed the teachers to have as close to equal access and time with their instructional assistants. As a future administrator, managing an organization and making sure it is a safe and productive learning and working environment is essential to a productive environment for all school stakeholders. It will be something that will be at the forefront of my function as an administrator.
