CAPE 1: DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A SHARED VISION
As a future administrator, the ability to develop and implement a shared vision is an essential piece to success. As I have worked within CAPE 1, I have had many growing experiences. First, I have worked with the school's leadership team on the school's new vision statement and with a staff team to present and plan a vision presentation to school stakeholders. I also presented at a staff meeting on “What will the new vision look like in your classroom?” As a leadership team, we also worked on a scope and sequence pertaining to the school’s new environmental science focus. We planned ways to promote the new focus to the community and on social media.
I additionally worked with the school’s 100th-anniversary team to plan for the school's anniversary celebrations. We created a run of show, a message devised for the broader community. I also helped guide my grade-level team on PBL implementation (a new school vision/focus) and lesson planning, as well as working with a group of primary teachers to use data to determine a practice problem at the school site and plan how to solve the identified problem. I helped lead a new parent event for our TK/K students’ parents, discussing programs at the school, new vision, and environment students focus.
These practices have enabled me to see how important it is to get support from the school, both classified and certificated. Developing and implementing a shared vision at a school helps guide a school and point it to success. As a future administrator, developing and implementing a shared vision will be crucial to success, staff buy-in, and creating a collaborative school environment.
